The mission of the Hawaii Athletic Trainers’ Association is to enhance the quality of health care provided by its members and to advance the athletic training profession.


Hawaii Athletic Trainers’ Associate: State Representative Announcement


The FWATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee is currently looking for individuals interested in filling the open position of Hawaii State Representative on our committee. A new committee member, once approved, would serve a minimum term of one year (renewable) and have the following responsibilities and duties:   

  • Advocate for LGBTQ+ Athletic Trainers and Patients.

  • Attend monthly or bi-monthly conference calls.

  • Communicate regularly with the committee chair and other committee members.

  • Work individually or in small groups on projects related to the mission of the LGBTQ+ Advisory committee.

The mission of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee is as follows:

“The mission of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee (LGBTQAC) is to advocate for an environment of inclusion, respect, equity and appreciation of differences in both athletic trainers and their diverse patient populations. The committee will identify, explore, address and provide educational resources regarding emerging topics and concerns relevant to diverse sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions within the profession and health care topics affecting patients in the LGBTQ+ community.”

If you’re interested in joining the FWATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee please send a copy of your resume, a cover letter outlining your desire to join the committee, and/or any questions you may have to the committee chair Sean Rogers (sean.rogers@csun.edu). Any Athletic Trainer that has a passion for advocacy, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender expression, or gender identity, is welcome to join the committee!
