Becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer
To become a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), students must graduate from a masters degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The candidate must then pass the comprehensive certification examination administered by the Board of Certification (BOC).

To maintain your credential, ATCs must:

Complete 50 CEUs, which must include at least 10 Evidence Based Practice (EBP) CEUs.

ATCs must be able to demonstrate ongoing certification in Emergency Cardiac Care throughout the reporting period.

Submit the BOC certification fee

Adhere to the BOC Standards of Professional Practice
