Spencer Chang, MD
Hawaii Pacific Health
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Spencer went to Iolani School, the University of Washington for his undergraduate years, the JABSOM for medical school and residency in orthopedics, and did two fellowships including a sports medicine fellowship in Miami, Florida at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in upper and lower extremity problems, and a second fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery with Dr. Roger Mann in Oakland , California. He has worked at Hawaii Pacific Health for 21 years.
As a sports physician, Dr. Chang has worked with the World Surf League and the Association of Surfing Professionals officially since 2013, has been serving as medical director of WSL Championship Tour Events on Oahu since 2019, served as a medical advisor to USATF pole vault development, and multiple schools including the University of Hawaii, Chaminade University, Moanalua High School, Saint Louis High School, Kalani High School, Kaiser High School, and Damien High School. Dr. Chang also served as a volunteer pole vault coach for the University of Hawaii Women’s Track and Field Team for 14 seasons from 2004 - 2017.
He is a member of the Surfer’s Medical Association, and has co-authored 3 water sports related medical papers.
Dr. Chang is an avid surfer, and enjoys playing music.

Haley Chizuk
UBMD, University at Buffalo
Haley Chizuk, PhD ATC, is a Research Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo and serves as an athletic trainer with UBMD Orthopedics. Her research aims to improve diagnosis, management, and outcomes for patients with concussion. With a specialized focus on aerobic exercise, epigenetics, and the integration of fluid biomarkers into clinical care, Dr. Chizuk aims to advance the scientific understanding of concussion physiology and management. Alongside her research, she is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of clinicians and scientists, equipping them with knowledge and skills to push the boundaries of healthcare.
Beth Ann Young, ATC
Punahou School
Beth is a dedicated athletic trainer with over 30 years of experience in the secondary school setting. She holds a BA in Zoology and a BS in Human Nutrition from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, where she cultivated her passion for athletic training.

Throughout her career, Beth has made significant contributions to the state of Hawaii and the Far West Athletic Trainers' Association. She is particularly known for her leadership and service in the HATA Symposium committee as a member and chair for over 20 years. This work has impacted the athletic trainer community by keeping members current with sports medicine issues and topics.
​
In her role as an athletic trainer, Beth focuses on preparing student-athletes in 22 sports and 140 sports teams for their practices and games. She also assists in creating emergency action plans and certifying over 200 coaches in the use of an AED and CPR. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge with her coaches, parents, students, and colleagues to decrease the risk of injury.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Beth enjoys spending time with her family and dog, Skippy.

Kana Maeji, DO
Hawaii Pacific Health
Dr. Kana Maeji is a board-certified family medicine and sports medicine physician with Hawaii Pacific Health and serves as core faculty at the University of Hawaii Family Medicine Residency. She completed her sports medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado, gaining expertise in diagnostic ultrasound, procedures, and sideline coverage. Her experience includes providing medical coverage for athletes at the high school, NCAA Division I, professional, and Olympic/Paralympic levels. Her professional interests encompass musculoskeletal ultrasound, curricular development in medical education, and lifestyle medicine.

Kiyomi Goto, DO
Queen's University Medical Group
Kiyomi Goto, DO is a family medicine physician with Queen’s University Medical Group in Kapolei. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine with honors. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Shadyside, where she was chief resident. She completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania where she then stayed on as a residency program faculty member. While there, she served as the physician of the Penn State Musical Theatre and Theatre Departments.
•She is enthusiastic about point-of-care ultrasound, performing arts medicine, gender-affirming care, and reproductive health.
•When she is not seeing patients in the clinic, you will find her wearing black and yellow and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates or on the sidelines at Nanakuli High School athletic events.

Andrew Takata, PhD, ATC, CSCS
Punahou School
Dr. Andrew Takata is the Director of Athletic Performance and Sports Science at Punahou School and an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with a PhD in Biomechanics from the University of Hawaii.
With experience spanning professional, collegiate, and high school sports, as well as the private sector, Andrew has worked with athletes across all levels and disciplines. His career includes serving as a seasonal athletic training intern with the Detroit Lions (2013) and as the Director of Athletic Training at Performance Rehab Ortho (2014-2021), a rehabilitation and performance training clinic in Honolulu. In 2019, he founded HNL Movement, a company dedicated to optimizing athletic performance through science-based training and rehabilitation strategies.
Passionate about innovation in sports performance and rehabilitation, Andrew integrates biomechanics, neuroscience, and sports science to advance human movement and athletic development. His work focuses on bridging the gap between research and applied practice to help athletes and individuals optimize their recovery, training, and long-term performance.

Olivia Chang Yanagi, PT
Olivia Chang Yanagi, PT has been a Licensed Physical Therapist since 1991 working in out-patient and in-patient facilities, specializing in orthopedics, manual therapy, Neuro-Developmental Treatment (stroke therapy), geriatric populations, dance therapy, and sports injuries. She graduated with a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota and a B.A. in Psychology & Physical Education from the University of San Francisco. She was also a lecturer at Kapiolani Community College in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. In 2004, she became a certified STOTT PILATES® instructor after discovering the benefits of STOTT PILATES® for herself and has incorporated those principles in her physical therapy treatments. Her other interests include dance and the performing arts.
